Cobalt’s openGear Line Continues to Grow, Offering New Flexible Options

openGear leader partners like Cobalt know that you want choice and flexibility when it comes to choosing the right cards for specific applications. That’s why they continue to expand their line of openGear offerings year after year.

At NAB 2023, Cobalt debuted the Sapphire 8JXS-8S, which is a ST 2110 JPEG-XS to SDI bulk gateway that occupies 4 slots within the openGear frame. The Sapphire 8JXS-8S includes dual 25Gb per second Ethernet ports for SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless switching, making it an ideal choice for receiving large numbers of JPEG-XS streams over a LAN or WAN.

The high-density card supports up to 8 SDI signals and can allow for as many as 5 cards and 40 signal conversions, saving you space in the openGear chassis.

If you’re interested in pro AV and broadcast applications, the new Sapphire BIDI-2H2S openGear® card will give you expanded 3G and HD conversion options. In existing openGear® installations, the bi-directional capacity is a space-saver that provides an alternative to using throwdown devices, which means increased installation integrity and redundancy.

The Sapphire BIDI-2H2S also offers you custom control options. You can preset custom card settings to be saved or instantly reverted to factory settings. If you have a specific area of concern such as audio routing, layered presets allow you to make changes without touching any other processing settings.

Finally, the popular OG-PC compact computer card is now available as a cloud offering in addition to the openGear form factor in the new SafeLink Gateway that reliably transports any audio and video content over the internet with low latency. The openGear compatible SafeLink Gateway protects live video and audio data over unsecured networks to eliminate glitches using RIST protocol.

The new SafeLink Gateway, Sapphire 8JXS-8S, and the Sapphire BIDI-2H2S are all available for shipping now.
