“Designed for openGear First”: VITEC Interview at IBC2022

One of main reasons broadcasters implement the openGear platform is because it’s both future-proof and backward-compatible. You just know when you choose an openGear option that it will work with what you’ve already got – and that it will support your future needs too.

That’s why one of the newest solutions from VITEC was developed for openGear first. As Richard Bernard of VITEC explains, “We have developed a lot of openGear cards over the past three years, and the last one is Diamond+ OG.”

He goes on to explain that what makes this card so special is that it was developed directly for the openGear platform and form factor. Unlike other openGear products from VITEC, which are based on existing products, the MGW Diamond+ OG is the first to be designed and delivered first for the openGear platform.

The card, which made its EMEA debut at IBC2022, is a 4K multichannel HEVC, H.264 and MPEG-2 encoder for contribution or point-to-point streaming over IP applications.
