SafeLink protects live video and audio data over unsecured networks, thereby eliminating video hits or glitches. By using a low latency protocol, Reliable Internet Streaming Transport (RIST), SafeLink provides reliable video transport even in live production environments that may experience network delay.
The software is lightweight and can live on most computers or on Cobalt’s openGear OG-PC-x86 platform. Control is handled with DashBoard, a free application that handles control and monitoring for all openGear broadcast products. The number of dropped packets can be monitored over a network, as well as how many packets were recovered.
A wide variety of compression standards are supported including MPEG-2, AVC, and HEVC transport streams. With up to 8 discrete transmit and receive paths available, SafeLink is ideal for providing link protection to existing encoding/decoding infrastructure.
